What makes a coastal town succesful and how can civic societies work together to play a role
in turning towns around? Where are the priorities for action? What are the key issues facing coastal towns? These are just some of the questions that have been mentioned by civic societies for some coastal towns since the publication of Own the future. We have created this dedicated section for civic societies that are situated in coastal towns enabling them to network and share best practice.

The Future
Some towns have started to regenerate themselves; catering for current needs, improved economies, vibrant public spaces that celebrate heritage, contemporary attractions and exciting cultural activities. Good examples can be found in many coastal towns across the UK including Blackpool where we recently held the first national convention of civic societies in 30 years,
We want to develop this into a dedicated section for civic societies working together on coastal issues with examples and shared experiences.
